FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
I am a complete beginner or I haven't practiced Pilates in many years - is this class suitable for me?
Yes - I have had many beginners at my classes over the years as well as people who want to pick it up after a long break. I offer challenges during classes to encourage you to progress your abilities and build on your strength but these are optional.
My clients range in age and ability and many of them are just keen to move their bodies and give most of the exercises a good go.
We can go at your own pace and there's no pressure to do any of the moves that you may feel are more challenging or that your body doesn't feel like doing on that particular day.
I can only make some of the classes in the block - do you have to sign up to a full block?
I offer partial block bookings for those who are new to my classes and may have just discovered them midway through a set of classes. After this you will have to pay for a full block. If you think you will miss too many you may prefer to miss out that particular block, however many of my clients miss a session and there is the option to swap to one of my other classes or you can watch one of my many on-demand videos that I provide if you are unable to catch up.
What if I miss a class?
If you find you can't make one then we can look at the other classes and if you can make another then you may swap. Please note, missed sessions must be swapped within that particular block and cannot be carried forward. If the class you'd like to swap to is fully booked then unfortunately you may not be able to catch up on that one - I find that most of my clients are able to swap and it is rarely a problem.
Can I trial a class?
Definitely - if you are unsure about the level of the class I encourage you to trial one first before committing to a block. You can trial a class for £9 then decide if it's for you.
Will I be able to perform the movements with my existing injuries and pain?
I have worked with people with a range of injuries and conditions including arthritis, lower back pain, sciatica, hypermobility-related problems, low core strength, general muscle weakness and many more. Most of these don't stop my clients from being able to do the moves during class and more often than not, this is actually the reason that they started coming, with their issues and pain often reducing over time. As long as you have had the go-ahead from a healthcare professional Pilates will no doubt be extremely beneficial.
If you find , however, that what you would like to start with is a very gentle or beginner's class to go over the basics then this may not be the class for you but there are plently of these around locally.
